This course has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 1.0 total CLE hour instruction.

The panel will discuss various strategies for protecting intellectual property surrounding software. They will provide insight as to when patent protection may be desirable and when another type of protection may be more suitable, the efficacy of copyrights to protect software-related IP, and how the recent Federal Circuit cases of Noah v. Intuit and Ergo Licensing v. CareFusion will change how software patents are drafted. The panel will also provide thoughts on how the software industry is impacted by non-practicing entities and open source trends.
