Meet the Candidates

Candidate for President  (2 year term)
Ashley Earle is an associate at Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, who focuses her practice on a wide range of intellectual property protection, including trademark prosecution (domestic and international), enforcement matters, copyrights, agreements, and patent procurement (both utility and design). She is admitted to practice before the USPTO as a registered patent attorney and has a B.S. in chemistry.
 
Ashley has served as the outreach officer for CincyIP for the past two years and is also a member of the steering committee for CincyBrand. She has been an active member of CincyIP since 2015.
Candidate for Treasurer (2 year term)
Amanda Herman currently serves as Counsel of Intellectual Property for the Procter & Gamble Company.  She works in the Personal Health Care business unit.  Her experience includes preparing and prosecuting national and international patent applications, evaluating freedom-to-practice issues, and drafting and advising on various types of agreements.  Amanda attended the University of Wisconsin Law School.  Prior to joining P&G, Amanda worked at the University of Wisconsin performing research focused on the application of embryonic stem cells to cardiovascular medicine and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital researching pulmonary vascular biology.  Amanda received her M.S. in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, and Microbiology from the University of Cincinnati and B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Marquette University.

Amanda has been a member of CincyIP since 2015 and is looking to become more involved in the organization.
Candidate for Outreach Officer  (2 year term)
Alex Czanik is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group of Frost Brown Todd LLC who assists clients with the preparation and prosecution of both utility and design patent applications.  Additionally, Alex has conducted patentability, freedom-to-operate, and patent infringement investigations.  Alex has experience in a variety of technology areas including medical devices.  Alex previously worked at Wood Herron & Evans, GE Aviation, and P&G.  Alex is a three-time graduate of the University of Cincinnati obtaining law, business, and engineering degrees.  Alex has been involved in CincyIP ever since graduating law school in 2014, and has assisted prior Outreach Officers (Alex Montgomery and Ashley Earle) with the CincyIP Mentorship Program.
Candidates for Board of Directors  (3 year term)
Matt Delaney is a registered patent attorney and managing associate in the Cincinnati office of Frost Brown Todd.  He counsels clients regarding all aspects of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyright, and related litigation issues.  Passionate about technology, Matt focuses his practice on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical and mechanical fields, as well as providing strategic patent counseling and IP due diligence advice to clients.  Matt is an active member in the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Bar Association (CincyIP), where he also sits on the board.  Matt previously worked at an IP boutique located in Canton, Ohio, as well as an IP boutique located in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Prior to becoming a patent professional, Matt worked as a software engineer at Harris, Mackessy & Brennan, Inc., and as a graduate assistant at Ohio University.
Jim Fondriest currently serves as Senior Counsel of Intellectual Property for Procter & Gamble’s Baby Care business.  His experience includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications, drafting freedom-to-operate opinions, and preparing various types of intellectual property related agreements.  Jim obtained a B.S. in Biology from The Ohio State University and went on to obtain a law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.  Jim currently serves on The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law Rising Professional Council, is a graduate of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce C-Change program, completed the United Way of Greater Cincinnati Board Orientation and Leadership Development (BOLD) program, and has experience serving on several non-profit boards.

Jim has been an active member of CincyIP since 2011, and he would like to increase his involvement in CincyIP by joining the Board and furthering the organization’s goal of providing valuable continuing legal education to its members.
Thomas Humphrey is a Partner with Wood, Herron & Evans and is involved in all phases of the firm’s practice, with concentration on electronic, software and computer technologies. Tom joined Wood, Herron & Evans in 1993. He has served as Chairman of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Computer and High Technology Law Committee. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1993 and to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio in 1994, Tom is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tom received both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1989, and he was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu. He then graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard University.

Tom is an active member of the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Association. He has lectured on patent, copyright and trade secret law at Xavier University’s College of Business Administration, at Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law and at various legal education seminars. Tom was named as one of the Ohio Super Lawyers – 2006 Rising Stars by Law and Politics Media. He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® since 2014. He resides in Glendale, Ohio with his wife Susan and their two children.
Jesse Jenike-Godshalk is an associate at Thompson Hine LLP, where he focuses his practice on patent litigation and on trademark counseling, enforcement, and litigation.  Jesse has been a member of CincyIP since 2013 and has been active in the Outreach Committee for much of that time.  Jesse has experience serving on not-for-profit boards, as he is currently the Vice-Chair of the Board for the Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati and is a member of the University of Cincinnati Law Alumni Association Board of Trustees.  Jesse is a 2011 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was the Editor-in- Chief of the University of Cincinnati Law Review.  Prior to law school, Jesse earned his M.A. in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago and his B.A. in history from the University of Cincinnati.
Amanda Kitzberger is a licensed patent attorney who has spent the majority of her career in-house advising technology manufacturers in a broad variety of areas of law.  She was most recently with Clopay Plastic Products headquartered in Mason, leading the global legal and human resource teams.  She is set to start her next opportunity at another local manufacturer at the beginning of the new year.  She has significant experience in strategic patent portfolio management and drafting and prosecuting patents.

Amanda was a board member for the prior term.
